Youngsters from an Ely school played to a sell-out audience at the city's Maltings for their end of school production.

St Mary’s School’s version of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat attracted packed audiences for all three performances with Wednesday’s evening show ending with a final curtain call that saw everyone singing along.

School music director Hazel Law described her pride in the children and the professional way they had rehearsed ready for the shows.

Tickets were sold to families and to the public with money raised going to the stroke unit at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.

Pupils from Years 5 and 6 together with both an adult and children’s choir wowed the audiences after rehearsing after school since Easter for the popular West End musical.

“There was a fantastic atmosphere for all the performances but the last night was just brilliant with everyone joining in when we sang the last song for the final curtain call. I was so proud of the pupils, they have worked so hard - it was just magic,” said Miss Law.
