A DOG breeder from Isleham and her three-year-old whippet Troy proved every dog does has its day after walking away with a top prize at international dog show Crufts.
Troy, also known by his show name Ch Shalfleet Simply a Lord, was one of more than 25,000 dogs at the Kennel Club event held in Birmingham and claimed the prestigious Best of Breed award.
Owner Jane Wilton-Clark fought off competition from more than 20 top whippets to scoop the coveted prize and then went on to finish second in the Hound Best in Group voting, only losing out to the eventual Best in Show winner.
Jane said: “I’m amazingly proud of Troy, he doesn’t attend any clubs or obedience centres he just lives on the farm and loves running around,
“It’s brilliant to win as he has only started being shown in the last 14 months and has done so well. He enjoyed a sausage for breakfast on the morning after he won and then curled up and fell asleep.”
