SOHAM man Peter Hanlon has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, and causing death by careless driving when over the alcohol limit.
He appeared before Ely magistrates on Thursday, when the case was sent to Cambridge Crown Court, with a preliminary hearing due there today (Thursday).
It is alleged that 37-year-old Hanlon, of Northfield Park, caused the death of Ronald Barber near the A142 Shade roundabout at Soham on February 21. Hanlon was driving an S-registered Ford Mondeo car, and Mr Barber was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The second charge alleges that Hanlon gave a blood test reading between 124 mgs and 184 mgs of alcohol in 100 mls of blood, when the legal limit is 80 mgs.
The court extended his Legal Aid and gave him unconditional bail.
