A Coveney man has applied to East Cambridgeshire District Council for permission to install 1,000 solar panels in a field.
Andrew King has submitted an application to site the ground-mounted panels in a 4800sq m section of field he owns at Frogs Abbey.
In a statement to planning officials, Geo Green Power, acting for Mr King, said: “The solar panel array is being installed within the parameters of the applicant’s boundary and will be situated in the top north east corner of the field. The surrounding land is unoccupied fields.
“The structure will comprise 1,000 solar panel modules which will be mounted on a ground mounted Renusol Terrasol mounting kit.
“The array has been situated away from the public highway and isn’t obviously visible to other local residents other than the applicant’s property.
“The customer’s decision to install PV is based on their desire to lower their carbon output and electricity usage on site.”
A decision is expected within the next eight weeks. To view the plans, or to have a say, visit www.eastcambs.gov.uk
