SIXTEEN year-old Lee Statham, right, has become the second member of his family to be given an ASBO and banned from the City of Ely Community College.

Earlier this year, magistrates slapped an ASBO on his 20-year-old sister Susan, after hearing how she threatened students and hurled abuse at headteacher Ian Gartshore.

And on Thursday, her teenage brother followed in her footsteps, after Ely Youth Court heard how he had been involved in violent incidents at the college.

Statham's catalogue of anti-social behaviour was outlined to the court by prosecutor Emma Dmitriev.

She told how Statham, of High Barns, Ely, had assaulted a Big Issue seller, punching him to the floor, and pushing him into a hoarding.

"When arrested in Tesco car park, he put up a fight with the police and they had to use CS gas before putting him in van," she said.

Other incidents included:

- A violent incident at college.

- Shouting at police

- Shouting abuse during an incident at Ely Market place

- Punching someone at the City of Ely College

- Punching and head-butting a male

- Swearing at police.

"The police are very concerned about Lee's involvement in violence at the City of Ely College," said Mrs Dmitriev. "He has no legitimate reason to be there."

Under the terms of his two-year ASBO, Statham is prohibited from:

- Entering the City of Ely Community College

- Engaging in any behaviour that causes nuisance, harassment, alarm or distress to others, or is threatening, abusive or insulting to others in Ely

Solicitor Mark Shelley said Statham agreed to the restrictions. "He knows he must be on his best behaviour in Ely, and if he breaches this, he is liable to be sent into custody.
