PASTOR Lowman led the family service on Sunday morning. The theme was based on Ash Wednesday and the preparation for Lent leading up and in to Easter time. The Sunday School young people, led by Helen Atkinson, sang a new song. The actions that went along with it were sign language.
The youngsters also drew pictures depicting Easter and the way Christians celebrate it. The evening service sermon was based on the first Lent study series under the title of 'Jesus our wounded saviour'. The passage referred to was from Philippians 2 1-11 'the humility of Christ'. Holy communication was celebrated at the close of the service. The youth group restarted after the school holidays. The Men's Prayer Group met on Monday evening and the Ladies' Prayer Group met on Tuesday evening. Throughout the week, people from the church met with others from the churches in Ely for the Lent discussions in homes of people who hosted the time, either during the day or in the evening.
From Saturday, morning prayer meeting will be held from 7-8am in the church hall to seek the Lord for his future guidance and work relative to the times we live in on a course of six weeks and probably thereafter.
