LITTLEPORT councillor Fred Brown has been accused of assaulting a teenage boy in the village.
Tory councillor, Mr Brown, 60, who represents Littleport East on East Cambridgeshire District Council and sits on the village parish council is to appear in court next month.
The incident is alleged to have happened outside Loach and Wade opticians and the launderette in Granby Street - buildings owned by Mr Brown - last August 22.
It is alleged Mr Brown pushed the 15-year-old boy and slapped him around the ear. The councillor, who lives in Granary Lane, runs a men's clothing shop in Littleport.
He is chairman of the overview and scrutiny committee and vice-chairman of the personnel committee on East Cambs District Council.
Mr Brown, is planning to deny a charge of common assault at Ely Magistrates' Court on March 29.
