Could your firm help mentor the next generation of Cambridgeshire business people?

Form the Future - a social enterprise which aims to inspire students by linking schools and businesses - is looking companies to share their knowledge.
The mentoring programme will give volunteers the chance to work with students attending Long Road Sixth Form College, Sawston Village College and North Cambridge Academy. The schools are offering this to different groups of students:
•Long Road Sixth Form College will be year 12 students who are looking for help finding direction and making decisions about their next steps in education or employment. They may have a particular subject/industry in mind or may be looking for more general support.
•Sawston Village College will be in year 9 and currently attracting pupil premium payments, typically because they qualify for free school meals. The focus will be on helping them develop motivation and aspiration.
•North Cambridge Academy would like to have mentors for their high ability year 10 students who could benefit from additional motivation and support.
If you are interested in helping young people achieve their full potential, inspiring future professionals or investing in your local community, this could be an ideal programme for you.
Form the Future, which recently helped organise the careers convention held in Ely Cathdral, said: “Cambridgeshire Police is one of our partners and is devising the training programme. The training will take place at Cambridge Police Station during the week commencing January 11. It will last for two to three hours.
“The first mentoring session is scheduled to take place during the week commencing January 25. There will be one date for Sawston but the Long Road dates will depend on students’ timetables. We anticipate that you will meet with your student once every half-term until the end of the school year.
“We are very keen to hear from prospective mentors as soon as possible. We accept that January is only round the corner but we cannot stress enough how rewarding this process will be.
“If you have the time, drive and passion, please contact us and get involved. This is a unique opportunity that we hope, with a successful pilot, will continue to expand and improve for many years to come.”
