An Ely man has transformed from self-confessed couch potato to marathon runner in a year.

Les Kingham, 47, will run the London Marathon on April 22 to raise money for Help The Hospices.

He started training last April and has followed a specific training programme over the last 16 weeks. He regularly runs the 16 miles from Newmarket Clock Tower to Ely Cathedral, with a best time of 1hr 57mins.
