New Connexions

We shared in renewing our covenant promises with God at the start of the new year.

We also focused on our verses for the year – Hebrews 10 verses 23-25 - through worship songs, prayer and in the sermon.

We were challenged to think about what it is we do with our life and what difference sharing it with God makes to us individually and as part of the church family of New Connexions.

The importance of fixing our hearts, minds and eyes on Jesus was stressed as this will build us and we will then be able to give out more to others.

The children looked at all that God gave to us at Christmas time and made boxes filled of things they would like to give back to Him this year.

Listen to Keith’s sermon on-line at www.newconnexionschurch.org.uk where there are also details about the church and home group questions.

Prickwillow Engine Museum

Attention all knitters! We need all your odd bits of wool please. We are making hats and gloves to be sold at the next annual ploughing festival to be held at the Prickwillow Engine Museum and on Green Farm adjacent, which will be on October 6 and 7.

The fundraising Ploughing Festival profits are split between two causes, one the museum and the other Cancer Research UK. Last year, a much needed £3000 was raised for each charity.

Please drop off any wool, together with your name and phone number if you would like to knit, to any of the following collection points: Behind The Scenes, Beauty Salon, Crown Walk Newmarket; Simply Allsorts , Churchgate Street Soham; Leys Stores, Pratt St, Soham or Artichoke Clothes Shop, High Street Passage, Ely .

The Prickwillow Engine Trust was originally set up to save the large diesel engine, originally used to drain the fens in that location, from being scrapped back in 1982.

Over the years the museum has expanded to house other engines and tell the story of the drainage of the Fens and its local history.

It is open to visitors Easter to October, four days a week. The latest extension enables better facilities for visiting schools to learn about this local history in fun workshops, and also realise that the fens still need actively draining today.

Anyone who has wool should drop off at any of the four places mentioned above. And anyone that would like to knit please contact either Nadine on 01353 722842 or Pauline on 01353 720737 so we can arrange the collection or drop off of any wool and patterns, if needed.
