Traffic ground to a halt on the A142 Soham bypass after an accident this morning (Wednesday).
Police were called to the Northfield Road junction shortly after 8am following reports of a collision involving an Audi A4 and a motorbike.
The motorcyclist was taken to hospital with serious, but not life threatening injuries. The road was closed for more than an hour and traffic was diverted through the centre of Soham. There were reports of queuing as far back on the A142 as Stuntney.
A spokesman for Cambridgeshire police said there was a large amount of oil on the road as a result of the crash.
The road was cleared and reopened by 9.30am.
