A collection will take place on Waterbeach village green next Saturday for Ely food bank.
From 11am-3pm, members of the newly formed Waterbeach (Beach) Labour group will be on hand to take deliveries of food to pass on to the food bank, which distributes it to people going hungry in the district.
Organiser Gareth Wright said: “It’s our first collection but we are hoping to make it a regular thing. There are a few things going on in the village that day, which should help.
“We think this is an issue worth highlighting. South East Cambs is a relatively affluent constituency yet there are people still going hungry.”
