A Littleport foodstore is helping young cancer sufferers and their families with support during vital treatment.
The Central England Co-operative foodstore, in Wisbech Road, has raised
£985.31 for CLIC Sargent.
CLIC Sargent provides clinical, practical, and emotional support to help young people cope with cancer and get the most out of life.
The store’s effort was then match funded by the Anglia Co-operative Community Fund and a cheque for £1970.62 was presented to Karen Roberts, area fundraising manager at CLIC Sargent.
Karen said: “Every day, children, and young people hear the shocking news they have cancer.
“In 2013, CLIC Sargent supported 67 families in Cambridgeshire and we are truly grateful for the support of the Littleport foodstore and the ACCF.
“It costs CLIC Sargent approximately £3,750 to support each family through treatment, which can last up to three years.
“We rely on voluntary donations to be able to offer these services and are currently only able to support two out of every three families nationally.”
