LITTLEPORT woman Caroline Newland has been cleared of benefit fraud, following a trial before Ely magistrates.
Newland, 42, of Jersey Way, was found not guilty of dishonestly obtaining income support, housing benefit and council tax benefit.
She had been prosecuted by the Department of Work and Pensions, who alleged that between December 3 2005 and July 17 2006, with a view to obtaining income support, she dishonestly failed to notify a change of circumstances which she was required to notify, namely that she was living together with Trevor Hale as husband and wife.
The second charge alleged that between December5 2005 and June 5 2006, with a view to obtaining housing benefit and council tax benefit, she dishonestly failed to notify a change of circumstance that she was required to notify, namely that she was living with Trevor Hale as husband and wife.
