CITY councillors have given away almost £10,000 in grants to 21 local
organisations.
The City of Ely Council handed cheques to representatives of 12 of them in the council chamber last Monday evening.
Ely mayor, Cllr John Ison, said the money was a small token of thanks to the city's voluntary and charitable organisations to help with their wonderful work.
Grants totalling £9,885 went to: EARTH, Ely Runners, Stuntney Village Council, Ely and District Volunteer Centre, Ely Museum, STRADA, Isle of Ely Rowing Club, Ely Bereavement Support Group, Bob Mahler Cancer Care, Adelaide Bridge Institute, Ely and Soham Dial-a-Ride,
Garden Theatre Company Ely, Ely Senior Citizens Club, Sue Ryder Care, City of Ely and District Horticultural Society, Ely Detachment Army Cadet Force, The Garage, Home-Start East Cambs, Relate Cambridge, Barns Community Rooms and the Friends of Croylands.
