Pair face trial
TWO men who have denied stealing almost £2,000 worth of lead from the Countess Free Church in Ely are to face trial on August 2.
Carl Scarrow, 26, of Broad Piece, Soham, and Joe Allgood, of Earith Bridge Caravan Site, have also denied stealing metal from the Environment Agency in March.
At Ely courthouse on Thursday, Scarrow was remanded in custody and Allgood was given unconditional bail.
Scarrow has admitted stealing meat from the Co-op in Littleport on May 30, and driving while disqualified and without insurance in Soham on May 28. The court ordered a pre-sentence report and adjourned those matters until July 5
Scarrow denied two alleged breaches of his community order, imposed back in April for an offence of theft. The date of the trial will be set on July 5.
