A 14th Century church without running water has launched a £100,000 fundraising appeal in an attempt to make it fit for the future.

Fundraisers are planning an extension to the south side of listed St Andrew's Church in Witchford to house new toilets.

The Rev Teresa Dixon, Assistant Priest in Witchford with Wentworth, said: "We launched our appeal with a Christmas Tree Festival, wine, and lots of dancing in the aisles."

Members of the congregation have started a pounds for pounds initiative and are aiming to lose 100lb between them between St Andrew's Day

and Easter.

"The aim of all this is to make St Andrew's Church fit for the future as a place for worship, community events and education, where everyone can feel welcome, said Ms Dixon."
