A Christmas appeal by the Liam Fairhurst Foundation saw more than 1,000 toys donated to charities and good causes.

The Soham-based charity handed out hundreds of toys to children at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge, and East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices.

The toys were collected throughout December at donation centres across Cambridgeshire, with the appeal also supported by Star Radio and Purple Skips.

The generous donations meant that each child and their siblings received a toy and a treat-filled goodie bag for Christmas.

Toys were also donated to the East Cambridgeshire Housing Options Team, who work with families and provide temporary accommodation for those struggling with homelessness.

James Woodward, managing director at Star Radio said: “We would like to thank all the residents and businesses that have contributed to making the appeal such a success.

“People have been unbelievably generous, and seeing the happiness and joy on each child’s face when they were given a toy was unforgettable.”
