A student at King’s Ely performed at the Carols by Candlelight concert in Christ Church Spitalfields, London.

Libby Chessor, a member of Ely Cathedral Girls’ Choir, sang the solo first verse of ‘Once in Royal David’s City’, and later presented flowers to the Countess of Wessex.

The annual service raises money for the NSPCC and Childline service, and this year supported their Call for Help appeal.

All proceeds from ticket sales went to the charities to help lonely children have a happier Christmas.

Sarah MacDonald, director of Ely Cathedral Girls’ Choir, said: “It is a great honour for us to perform alongside such eminent people, and especially given that it is for such a good cause. Libby sang absolutely beautifully, and I was very proud of her.”
