Ely Netball Club hold a charity tournament for Children In Need

Netball players played a friendly match with cakes added as extra to raise money for BBC Children In Need.

Ely Netball Club spent a very cold evening playing the charity match and raised almost £200.

Victoria Cutforth said: “It might have been freezing but still a fun tournament and £197 raised for Children In Need.

“Thank you for all the cakes and raffle prizes! Well done ladies.

“We are also really trying to promote our brand new walking netball team which has only been going a couple of months but already has 14 members.

“We are keen to grow the numbers and spread the word that although walking it is still a great form of exercise, very sociable with a competitive edge.”

Ely Netball Club welcomes new members of all ages and abilities.

The club offers an opportunity to play competitive netball within six teams who compete in the Cambridge and District Netball League. Victoria said: “Although we have a competitive streak, we also appreciate keeping fit and having fun and a number of our members only take part in training without playing competitively in a team.”

They train every Wednesday at Witchford Village College from 7.30pm until 9pm.
