The hall at Mepal and Witcham School was lit by over 70 candles when pupils held their annual Christingle service.
The event on Friday, was the first of the school’s festive celebrations, and saw all 73 of the pupils make their own Christingles.
The Christingle is symbolic and is made using an orange to represent the world, a candle to represent the light of Christ, four cocktail sticks to represent the four corners of the world and also the four season, and sweets to represent God’s bounty, love and kindess.
The candles were lit from the school’s advent candle and the children formed one big circle as part of the service, which was conducted by the Rev Mary Hancock, of St Mary’s Church, Mepal.
Parents were also invited to attend the service.
