PANTOMIME Prince Charming, Duncan Breeze, has been jailed for two years for downloading thousands of "disgusting and sickening" pornographic images of children.

Breeze, 32, from Pymoor was billed as "The New Michael Ball" and had carved out a successful career with his own show A Night at the Musicals and in pantomime.

But a jury decided that when the curtain came down Breeze looked for pornography on the internet and got drawn into the world of child pornography.

Judge Geoffrey Breen said: "Some of the images are particularly disgusting and sickening and it is not difficult to imagine the distress caused to the children in them.

"If it were not for people like you there would be no market for material of this kind.

"There is no doubt that you have achieved a great deal and that you are very talented and hard working.

"But it is difficult to see how you will ever be able to resume work in the entertainment industry."

Breeze must register as a sex offender for 10 years and is disqualified from any employment where he could come into contact with children.

The lawyer-turned-entertainer went to prison still protesting his innocence to all the charges.

He was convicted by a jury last month of 20 sample counts of making indecent images between 2001 and 2004.

The court heard that when three computers he used were examined there was evidence that a total of 4,270 indecent images had been downloaded, including 84 at the worst level of depravity.

Breeze maintained the images must have been downloaded by a former employee who could not be traced.

He said his hectic work and travelling schedule meant he could not have accessed the computers at the times suggested and he was rarely on his own.

Breeze, of Main Street, Pymoor was arrested in October 2004 after police were alerted by the Croatian law enforcement agencies.

Computers were found at his former home in Beeston near Sandy, Bedfordshire, and at his parent's home in Beach Road, Weston-super-Mare.

Breeze's show, A Night at the Musicals, has toured all over the country attracting rave reviews and much praise for Breeze.

At Christmas he specialised in playing Prince Charming in Cinderella and the Prince in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Nicholas Corsellis, defending, said: "He makes no admission to this offending behaviour.

"The results of these proceedings and his conviction have been catastrophic.

"He spent eight years building up his career which met with huge success.

"But, at 32, he is left with no career, financially destitute and an outcast.

"He has fallen from a position of privilege with such magnitude that the effects are enormous.
