A developer has expressed an interest in building 99 homes in Witchford.
Cheshire-based Gladman Developments has applied to East Cambridgeshire District Council to test the water on plans for the new homes as part of a 12-acre development in Field End, in the north of the village.
In its proposal to the council, Gladman said: “The site could be brought forward for development quickly as no major infrastructure is required to facilitate development of the scale proposed.”
The company has submitted a ‘screening option’ to the council, to request whether a full environment impact assessment will be required should it move ahead with a full planning application.
Last month, Gladman unveiled similar plans for 100 new homes in Haddenham.
The company launched a website featuring detailed plans for a new development off Wilburton Road and is currently gathering the views of residents before submitting a formal planning application to East Cambridgeshire District Council.
The company’s plans concern almost eight acres of land that is currently open space and, as well as 100 houses, Gladman also intends to build a play area and public space complete with “recreational facilities”.
