Musicians Charlie and Molly helped to raise almost £500 for the Lisa Barnes Memorial Fund at the weekend.
The duo Charlie O’Connor, 17, and Molly Armstrong, 16, performed at Sainsbury’s, in Ely, to help raise awareness and funds for the building of the new Arthur Rank Hospice, on the outskirts of Cambridge.
Robert Barnes, founder of the memorial fund, said the response was great.
He said: “Sainsbury’s customers took time out to look at the display and donate towards the new hospice.
“The highlight came when Charlie and Molly arrived and performed tracks from their debut album Wish You Were Here.
“Several copies of the CD where sold and £477.19 was collected on the day. Our famous pink wheelbarrow was won by Mr Shore of Little Thetford and I would also like to thank the volunteers who came to help on the day and the people of Ely and the surrounding area for their support.”
The Lisa Barnes Memorial Fund has raised £115,000 since it was launched in 2010.
