A JustGiving page has been set up to raise £100 for the Witchford Post Office after their charity tins were stolen on Tuesday.

Phil Speed set up the crowdfunding page and said: “On Tuesday December 5, Witchford Post Office unfortunately had their charity tins stolen by a desperate individual or an opportunist thief.

“The postmaster, Shelley Davies-Bloss, is always doing things to help others and has recently raised over £1,000 for Children in Need.

“She always has a smile on her face. I know this incident will have not only saddened her but also the village itself.

“Unfortunately, it also means the charity’s Shelley was raising money for will also lose out.

“These were charities for the blind and blind dogs, breast cancer and the local Witchford Village preschool.

“Please help where you can so that we can make sure Shelley’s efforts are not in vain. “Any money raised on this page will be split equally to the above charities. Thank you.”

Postmaster Miss Davies-Bloss said on December 5: “Sadly today most of our charity boxes have been stolen.

“We have had them for years and never a problem but unfortunately things change.

“As it is busy this time of the year an opportunist has got lucky. If you are in the shop can I ask you to keep your eyes peeled on my behalf.

“On a normal day I would have probably caught them. I am now reviewing whether or not to have any in the future as they obviously attract the unsavoury.”

One person said: “Oh Shelley that’s awful. Who on earth would do such a thing?”

Another added: “So sad. Hate to think we live amongst people like that.”

A third simply wrote “how could anyone do that?”
