Children and their families from Haddenham spent a night sleeping out to highlight the plight of the more than 40 million disadvantaged people for the start of Christian Aid Week.
The Reverend Fiona Brampton, who is also the vicar of the Grunty Fen group of churches, joined eleven children and their families for the event to mark the start of this year’s Christian Aid Week.
The group took part in the sponsored Solidarity Sleepout at the Holy Trinity Church, Haddenham, raising £250.
The children learned about storm-resistant houses that have been, and are still being, built to help people in Haiti whose homes haven’t survived the increasingly destructive weather
Christian Aid’s Regional Coordinator for Cambridgeshire, Pam Richardson, said: “It’s fantastic to see the children having fun and standing together with displaced people around the world with a solidarity sleepout in Haddenham.
“Christian Aid Week unites thousands of churches, like the Grunty Fen Churches, every year to raise money to support our global neighbours in need, who are often suffering through no fault of their own.”
