A charity dog walk held in Downham Market on Sunday raised £590 for the Arthur Rank Hospice and Norfolk-based Brambles Animal Rescue Centre.

The event, organised by Shirley Hammond and Mel Starling, was brought to life because their ‘dear friend’ and colleague from Ely Tesco, Angie Squires is currently under Arthur Rank’s care.

On the day 30 dogs and their owners turned up for the charity walk.

Mrs Starling said: “She is a true inspiration to us.

“Angie managed to attend the walk to see us off. Her husband and three grandchildren did the walk as well.

“There were about 30 plus dogs and it took about an hour with the sun beaming down on us.”

So far £590 has been raised for both charities.
