A charity car wash held at Cottenham fire station raised £703 for The Fire Fighters Charity.

Cottenham crew commander Julian Bridgeman said: “We were lucky to have very nice weather and would like to say a massive thank you to the kind community of Cottenham for their very generous donations and the hard work of all the firefighters at Cottenham station.”

Another car wash, at Burwell fire station, raised an additional £512.50.

Firefighter Lenny Gray, from Burwell Fire Station, said: “Thank you to everyone who came down to donate their money and to the other firefighters who made this possible.

“A special thanks to Jenny Ward and Jill Edgar who gave their support getting drinks and helping with the admin.

“Hope everyone is happy with their clean cars.”

Together with efforts from St Ives, Huntingdon and Ely fire stations, it brings the latest fundraising total for The Fire Fighters Charity to just over £2,815.
