A HOLLYWOOD blckbuster filmed in part at Ely Cathedral has been deemed "t raunchy" fr a reginal premiere.

Cathedral staff decided nt t hld a premiere n the release f The Other Bleyn Girl this week after realising the Tudr cstume drama featured a rape scene.

"We thught it wuld be t raunchy t be shwn in the cathedral," said cathedral marketing manager Lesley Ann Thmpsn.

"It's a 12A and when I saw sme f the scenes we decided nt t apply t hld a reginal premiere here."

The Other Bleyn Girl is due fr general UK release n March 8, and tells the tale f lve rivals, sisters Mary and Anne Bleyn, wh are vying fr the lve f Henry the Eighth.

Stars including Scarlett Jhanssn, Cate Blanchett and Canadian beefcake Eric Bana flew in t film scenes in Ely Cathedral fr three days last August, after picture huse bsses in the US decided the first cut needed beefing up with extra scenes.

One part f the suth transept was turned int a bedchamber, but the rape scene itself was nt filmed in the cathedral.

Outside the Lady Chapel entrance last summer, mtr caravans packed int a tiny area f the cathedral green, surrunded by security fencing while curius members f the public and paparazzi waited t catch a glimpse f tw f Hllywd's httest yung prperties.

Rubbing shulders with the stars was Cuncillr fr Frdham Villages Michael Allan, wh tk a break frm his duties at East Cambridgeshire District Cuncil t dn a bishp's rbe. This is nt the first time Cllr Allen turned Tinseltwn man. In 2006 bth he and Ely Cathedral featured in the film The Glden Age, starring Cate Blanchett.
