TV auction programme Cash in the Attic filmed a one-hour special in Ely on Saturday.
The team were covering a live online auction of militaria and medals owned by an elderly male collector from Surrey.
Auctioneer David Palmer, told the Ely Standard the collector was selling part of his collection before he went blind. He had a wide collection of medals from World War One and Two, and a Napoleonic cavalry sword and some flintlock pistols.
Mr Palmer, who was in charge of the gavel on the day for Blyth and Co, said: "It always adds an atmosphere to a sale when TV cameras are there. The sale made him £3,500 - £1,500 more than the estimated return."
The hour-long Cash in the Attic episode is expected to air on the BBC in mid-May.
