FIREARMS offences faced by Soham man Steven Dean-Needham have been sent to Cambridge Crown Court for trial.

Dean-Needham is accused of possessing a Gregorio Bolumburu 32 self loading pistol with a barrel less than 30 cm in Prickwillow on October 2, without the authority of the Secretary of State.

The 52-year-old is also charged with possessing a shotgun that had been shortened without a certificate in force, at Great Fen Road, Prickwillow, in contravention of the Firearms Act of 1968.

The offences are so serious that they can only be dealt with at the Crown Court, so on Thursday Ely magistrates sent the case directly to the higher court.

Dean-Needham, of Great Fen Road, Soham, was told to attend the Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on December 4 and was granted unconditional bail.
