An Ely business said they were “honoured” to be asked to help the BBC with the re-building of the Mildenhall home of attack victim Simon Dobbin.
Newnham Street Carpets got a call from the BBC asking if they would be prepared to provide carpets for the home once the DIY SOS build was complete.
Amie Jordan of Newnham Street Carpets said: “We attended the grand reveal of the build this morning and it was very emotional.
“Seeing Nicole and Emily’s reaction to their new ‘forever home’ was unforgettable.
“We think it’s truly amazing what DIY SOS is capable of doing but none of this would be possible if it wasn’t for the local tradesmen and suppliers all chipping in.”
Amie added: “We were contacted by the team at the BBC and asked to supply all carpets for the project which we have been honoured to do so.”
DIY SOS: The Big Build has spent the last 10 days improving the Dobbin home.
Simon needs round the clock care after an unprovoked attack by a gang of men that left him with permanent brain damage.
Simon, a Cambridge United supporter, has been unable to walk or talk since the attack in Southend in March 2015.
