A MOTORIST who struck and injured a dog in Witcham has admitted careless driving.
The animal was hit by a BMW car being driven on the A1421 by 35-year-old Darren Holdsworth on May 3.
"He failed to slow down sufficiently as he approached a hazardous situation," the court clerk told Ely magistrates on Thursday. "He struck and injured a dog in the carriageway."
Writing to the court, Holdsworth, of Morton Way, March, said he had received confusing signals from oncoming traffic. One car had flashed its lights, preventing him from seeing the dog, and it was only when he saw a car displaying hazard lights that he slowed down.
"I could have slowed down sooner," he said.
Holdsworth was fined £250 with £35 costs, and six points were endorsed on his licence.
