A car which was involved in a collision in Barway was seized yesterday after the driver, a man in his 20s, was found to be without valid insurance.

The car was stopped in Barway Road at about 7pm and there were no injuries as a result of the crash.

PC Andy Free seized the car under section 165 of the Road Traffic Act.

The owner, a man in his 20s, has two weeks to provide police with a valid certificate of insurance or the vehicle will be confiscated and disposed of permanently, said police.

In order to recover the vehicle the owner will also have to pay the recovery and storage charges.

PC Andy Free said: “The consequences of being caught driving without insurance are significant.

“You can lose your license, and it will usually end up costing you much more than simply insuring the car in the first place.

“Without insurance you’ll always be looking over your shoulder.”

“With common affordability of ANPR technology it is becoming increasingly difficult to use the roads without valid insurance.”
