On Good Friday, the second Soham Scouts launched their new flotilla of 11 plastic canoes. The crafts were sponsored by various businesses and organisations in the town, including one by the Soham Staploe Rotary Club. The canoe, named after the club's elder statesman, Jack Palmer, who unfortunately passed away the previous Saturday, was paddled by Jack's 12-year-old grandson George.
