Cannabis was seized from a man in Market Street, Fordham on Saturday.
A police spokesman said: “Despite any confusion that might exist around this substance, cannabis is an illegal Class B drug and possession is a criminal offence.
“The maximum penalty for possession of cannabis, when tried at Magistrates Court is three months imprisonment and/or a £5,000 fine.”
The spokesman added: “Production, supply or possession with intent to supply cannabis can be sentenced up to 14 years at Crown Court, with a risk of financially debilitating ‘Proceeds of Crime Act’ civil penalties to follow.
“Despite its reputation for being a ‘soft’ drug cannabis has a well documented relationship with both physical and mental health problems - including psychosis and lung cancer.”
