LITTLEPORT woman Sadie Fuller was cleared of stealing a tourist's digital camera after magistrates heard that her silver mobile phone looked like a camera.
Marta Bereska had left her camera on the grass alongside Ely Cathedral when she went to the toilet and it was missing when she returned.
Michelle Houghton had been sitting on the grass nearby and believed she had seen Fuller with the camera. She approached Fuller with Ms Bereska, and thought Fuller hid the missing camera behind her leg, and covered it with a bag.
But at Ely courthouse on Thursday, 20-year-old Fuller, of Wisbech Road, Littleport, said she had been playing with her new silver mobile phone on July 13 last year, taking photos with it.
She denied picking up the missing camera from the grass, and said she had walked away from Ms Bereska who got "pretty violent".
Solicitor Sandeep Kainth told the court: "Ms Houghton could not be sure that the item in Sadie Fuller's possession was the camera that went missing.
