An all-girls choir raised more than £400 for a charity that helps people affected by a rare disease that can damage the right side of the heart.
The Ely Cathedral Girls’ Choir held the concert on May 25 to raise funds for the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA).
A spokesman for the choir said: “People of all ages came together inside Ely Cathedral for the event which featured solo songs and duets by Mozart, Grieg, Pergolesi, Britten, Abba, Tom Lehrer, and Lakme’s famous Flower Duet, as well as a special new arrangement of O Happy Day.
“The concert was originally going to be held in the courtyard at Etheldreda House but heavy rain forced it to take place inside in the cathedral’s South Transept.
“The concert was followed by a reception in the Canonry where members of the audience were able to enjoy drinks, nibbles and a cake sale.”
The PHA is the only charity in the UK dedicated to people with the rare disease, pulmonary hypertension.
A spokesman for the PHA said: “Set up in 2000, PHA UK has grown to a membership of over 3,500.
