SOHAM teenager Callum Fairhurst says he hopes to raise 20,000 when he and a group of volunteers take to the road this weekend.

The money from the John O’Groats to Lands End cycle ride will be donated to the Clic Sargent charity, which raises money for children with cancer, and their families.

Callum has spent months organising his Twycle which will involve 9 cyclists, including Callum and some guest riders, riding the entire length of the country in a relay. Most of the participants will ride for four hours each day, starting on Saturday and finishing on September 4 in Cornwall. Callum, 13, said on Monday he was extremely “excited” but slightly concerned about the amount of training he had put in.

“I am really excited, but maybe wishing I had done a bit more training,” he said.

The funds have been boosted this week by a 500 donation from Soham businessman Jonathan James and from two collections on Friday and Saturday outside the BP garage in Ely which raised 300.
