Children at a pre-school in Little Downham are confident and enthusiastic about learning – according to Government inspectors.

Ofsted rated Busy Fingers Pre School as ‘good’ in an inspection carried out recently.

Jacqueline Baker, who carried out the inspection, said: “Children show their enthusiasm for learning as they arrive at the pre-school with great

“They show maturity and confidence as they separate from parents with ease and happily join with small group times. Staff have a good understanding of how children

learn as they play and explore the environment.”

Ms Baker also praised the standard of teaching and said staff offered advice and support to parents to make sure learning continued outside of school.

She said: “Children are fully absorbed in the activity and are developing

good levels of concentration.

“Parents are fully involved in children’s learning and have frequent opportunities to see children’s learning journals and add their own observations of children’s learning at home.”

Busy Fingers, based in Main Street, was established in 1995 and currently has 54 children on its books.

In order to make the leap from good to outstanding, Ms Baker said children needed to be given more opportunity to select their own resources and toys while inside the class, in order to extend their learning.
