A five bedroom, two storey farmhouse has been put forward to East Cambridgeshire planners by Charles Shropshire on his company’s Dimmocks Cote Farm at Stretham.
The proposals will include the demolition and relocation of what is termed by his architect as a “relocation” of the existing farmhouse.
His company, Cambs Farms Growers Ltd of Barway, argue that the existing farmhouse “is suffering from movement and rising damp”.
Architect Gary Johns says: “Ceiling levels are too low to be considered acceptable by today’s living standards and the building is not insulated.
“The building has reached the end of its life and is unsuitable for conversion”.

Mr Johns says replacement of a dilapidated farmhouse with an attractive, energy efficient home “will enhance the local area as part of the development of the Dimmocks Cote farm yard.”
Access will be from the existing entrance from the A1123, located to the south.

A new road will be introduced linking the existing access road and parking will be way of a timber framed car port.
Planning permission has already been granted for the relocation of the existing farmhouse of a similar size – the architect says the new proposals are improvements on that design.
