A PARTNER in an engineering business escaped a driving ban this week, because his workforce might suffer if he could not visit prospective customers to obtain new contracts.
Marcus Rowley, 44, of Heath Road, Burwell, admitted an offence of speeding - and with nine points already endorsed on his driving licence, could have been banned under the "totting up" procedure that comes into force when a driver collects 12 or more points.
Rowley told the court he runs a business with his two brothers, and they employ 17 people..
He admitted driving at 40 mph on Elizabeth Way in Cambridge on June 12, where there was a 30 mph speed limit in force.
The court fined Rowley £200 and ordered him to pay £35 costs and a £15 surcharge. Three points were added to his licence.
