THE company which manages Ely’s Paradise Pool is inviting applications from for one of its 12-month apprenticeships.

Starting in June, the one-year apprenticeship with Everyone Active offers lifeguarding and swim instruction and apprentices can earn while they learn with a wage of £2.65 per hour.

Everyone Active works in partnership with leading training company Lifetime and the Institute of Swimming to deliver the training.

Over the last four years, more than 1,000 Everyone Active employees have started an apprenticeship while working in leisure centres managed by the nationwide operator.

On successful completion of their apprenticeship, where an opportunity exists in the centre, apprentices can move into a full-time job and have the opportunity to progress to an advanced apprenticeship programme.

Everyone Active operates more than 80 centres across England and currently has apprenticeships available at 57 of them, including Paradise Pool. Harvey Gosling, group training manager at Everyone Active, said: “Not all 16-year-old school leavers want to join a college or sixth form to study A-Levels and the hefty cost of university places is making many 18-year-olds think twice about going.

“Our apprenticeships are a genuine opportunity people who are interested in working in the fitness and leisure industry. Not only do they receive comprehensive training and a modest income, they have excellent career prospects at the end of their apprenticeship with us.”
