ELY-based chartered accountancy firm, Price Bailey, has raised more than £2,600 for its chosen charity, the Arthur Rank Hospice, during its fiscal year 2009-2010.
The team has raised the money through charity organised events such as the Starshine stroll as well as more creative ideas like sports related sweepstakes, poker nights (no money swapped hands), the office tuck shop profits, dress down days and a lunch time Halloween party with a prize for the best dressed guest. Perhaps one of the more unusual ideas was guessing the number of raisins in a home-made cake.
Their biggest charitable donation came from organising the Cambridge Professionals Quiz, which involved approximately 60 people from nine Cambridge-based businesses including John Lewis, Taylor Vinters, Hewitsons and the Cambridge Evening News. Price Bailey also donated £1 for every returned and completed feedback form which they received from their clients.
Nick Pollington, a partner at Price Bailey, commented: "The staff have been very creative and have used a number of opportunities to raise money for the charity that you would not normally think of. We have all had fun participating in these activities and my thanks must go to the fund raising team for their powers of persuasion and creativity.
On top of this the firm has also raised money for some of the nationally organised events such as 'Jeans for Genes' Day, Children in Need and the renowned Cambridge race, Chariots of Fire.
Nick added: "We are also delighted that the entire practice has raised a total of just under £7,000 for charity.
