A PLUMBER who has clocked up 50 years working for the same company has been honoured for his long service.

Fred Larwood joined The Trevor Benton Group as an apprentice in 1960 after leaving the Needhams Grammar School in Ely.

Half-a-century later and Fred is still going strong in the firm’s heating and plumbing division and he has no plans yet to hang up his plunger.

The 65-year-old, who know lives in Soham, was honoured with a special ceremony led by boss Trevor, who knew Fred long before he joined the company as a fresh-faced apprentice.

Trevor said: “Fred still enjoys coming in every day and he said that he has no plans yet for retire. We all really hope he won’t.”
