ELY manufacturer Thorlabs hosted VIPs for the launch of two new products.

Engineered and manufactured by the company at St Thomas Place, the Nexus range of vibration isolation tables and breadboards is the result of more than 25 years of experience and customer collaboration.

Guests at the launch included East Cambridgeshire District Council’s business champion, Councillor Tom Kerby.

General manager Keith Dhese said: “Through removing barriers and focusing on the tasks at hand we have, as a company, achieved something that should instil us all with great pride.”

Cllr Kerby said Thorlabs was one of the largest employers in the district.

He said: “The district council will be working closely with developers and local businesses like Thorlabs to deliver more than 9,000 new jobs for the district.

“We have already started this process by identifying key employment sites.”

In a move that raises the industry standard for quality, each Nexus product is individually tested and shipped with a unique test certificate. To commemorate this new service, Cllr Kerby tested an optical table and signed the resulting test certificate.
