A Burwell man who cultivated £33,000 worth of cannabis was given a two-year jail sentence, suspended, as well as an £18,000 Proceeds of Crime Order and 200 hours of unpaid community service.
The 69-year-old pleaded guilty at Cambridge Crown Court to the offence of producing cannabis after plants with a high street value were removed from his house in June.
PC Chris Dykstra, who dismantled the cultivation from a residential street, said attention was drawn to the situation by neighbours who believed that cannabis was being smoked at the house.
He said: “I’m grateful to the members of the community who raised our awareness to this issue.”
