A five-year rural strategy for Cambridgeshire has been launched in Ely.
The keynote speech was given by the Bishop of Ely, the Rt Rev Dr Anthony Russell, president of Cambridgeshire ACRE, the local rural community
council responsible for the administration of the plan.
Dr Russell emphasised the need to build communities, not just houses, in one of the fastest growing parts of the country.
The strategy, by the Cambridgeshire Rural Forum, highlights the priorities for improving the quality of life of people who live and work in Cambridgeshire's many small towns, villages and rural areas.
It also provides a platform for the forum to lobby public, private and voluntary service providers and other funding bodies. Key issues include improving access to services, training and employment and providing more affordable housing in rural locations.
