Reducing crime and safeguarding the vulnerable are top priorities for East Cambridgeshire's newly-appointed area commander.

Detective Chief Inspector Bryan Driver says he is “very proud” to take over from DCI Donna Wass, who is to become Huntingdonshire’s area commander.

DCI Driver joined Cambridgeshire Constabulary in 1989, gaining experience in investigations before moving into an intelligence role ten years later.

He was then promoted to detective sergeant in 2005 before spending a year manager the Force Intelligence Bureau.

DCI Driver is to start his new post in East Cambridgeshire next week, and is determined to see a drop in crime levels through the work of his team and its partners.

He said: “The investigation of crime and tackling antisocial behaviour bring huge challenges to both the constabulary and our partners, but by working closely together we can reduce crime and disorder.

“It is my view that safeguarding our most vulnerable people is at the heart of policing and I will do this by focussing on those who commit crime and cause vulnerability.

“We have a dedicated, hardworking team working across East Cambridgeshire and I am confident that by listening to the community we can deliver for them.”
