LITTLEPORT councillor Fred Brown is to step down as chairman of the charity Care and Repair after 15 years of dedicated service.
Cllr Brown will become president, passing the responsibility of chairman to Roderick Mair.
To mark the occasion, South East Cambridgeshire MP James Paice and John Hill, chief executive of East Cambridgeshire District Council, joined supporters to thank Cllr Brown.
Mr Paice also said that Cllr Brown should be proud of his achievement of leading the Care and Repair agency to a national award for best practice.
Mr Mair also thanked Cllr Brown for his contribution and hopes to keep close ties in the future.
The agency helps vulnerable people in the region with repairs, adaptations and improvements to their home, ensuring their safety and security in a comfortable environment.
